Digit Zero1 Awards and Digit Best Buy Awards 2022: Best 4K HDR TVs of 2022
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Here are the winners of the Digit Zero1 and Best Buy Awards for the Best 4K HDR TVs of 2022.

  • The LG QNED91 bagged the Digit Zero1 Award 2022 in this category amidst fierce competition.

  • The LG QNED91 clinched the Digit Best Buy Award 2022 for offering the best price-to-performance ratio.

2022 was the year when we saw demand for 4K TVs grow across budget price segments. Still reeling from the WFH hangover, buyers decided to invest in improving their home entertainment set-ups by investing in new 4K panel TVs. While in the premium segment OLED TVs asserted their dominance, other panel technologies such as QLEDs, LEDs and even MiniLEDs fought fiercely for control over the rest of the market. Another interesting trend this year was the democratisation of higher-end technologies which trickled down to slightly lower segments. As such, buyers were left with plenty of options to choose from throughout the year regardless of their budgetary constraints. A reflection of this was our list of devices we tested for the Best 4K HDR TVs of 2022. Here’s the best of the best from the list.

Zero1 and Best Buy: LG QNED91 (Buy link)

Despite not being LG’s flagship for the year, or packing its top-of-the-line OLED panels, the LG QNED91 is a superb television that offers great picture quality and packs a lot of features. LG’s new TV uses the new QNED MiniLED technology for its panel which helps it achieve high peak brightness that surpasses OLEDs and even LED and QLED TVs. It’s a value-for-money proposition considering what it brings to the table and is a future-proof option as it offers HDMI 2.1 for new gaming consoles, variable refresh rate up to 120fps, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, as well as LG’s Game Optimiser mode. Because of its unique technology, the QNED91 offers near-perfect blacks and close to no blooming or halo effects around visuals. While it does produce gorgeous visuals and is brighter than most other TVs, it does not offer the great viewing angles or the deep blacks of an OLED, which could be a deal breaker for some. But if an expensive OLED is not what you can go for, then the LG QNED91 is the perfect TV for you, offering everything you need for creating immersive visual experiences at home.

Price: Rs 2,99,990

Runner-up: Sony BRAVIA X80K (Buy link)

The X80K series from Sony is part of the more affordable TV lineups in the company's arsenal. The Sony X80K comes with a decent feature set and relatively basic features. As such, it is not for gamers because it lacks features like a 120Hz refresh rate and mini-LED backlighting for improved performance in darker scenes. The latter also results in the TV not handling darker scenes exactly the way they are meant to be. However, that’s only if you’re watching content in a dark room. This LED TV from Sony does decent in a well-lit room, where its shallow black levels do not impact picture quality as much, making it a worthy contender for your money.

Price: Rs 1,64,900
