In the era of Moto 360 and Galaxy Gear, the MIMI MI-W2 is the affordable option when it comes to smartwatches. It's manufactured by a company called MIMI based in Hong Kong, and is essentially a bluetooth smartwatch that pairs up with any Android smartphone (iOS devices not supported). It lets you make and receive calls, view notifications and obviously tells you the time.

It has a 1.54 inch TFT display screen with 240x240 resolution, running on a MTK6250 chip. It packs a 360 mAH battery giving a standby time of almost 100 hours (upto 3 days). Strangely, it doesn't have internal storage and no support for external storage either.

On one side the watch has the power button and reset button. At the bottom it has a built-in mic. The device also packs a pedometer which calculates the number of steps taken.

On the other side, the watch has a micro-usb port through which you can charge the device. It has speakers on this side too which are deceptively loud. You can pick up calls with a shake gesture, but the specs don't mention the presence of an accelerometer sensor, which makes us wonder how it recognises the gesture.

The case of the device is made of an alloy material and the design is strikingly similar to the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The build quality seems quite sturdy and it comes in three colours Silver, Golden and Grey.

The device doesn't look huge on your wrist, with dimensions 9.3 x 1.5 x 0.4 inches, weighing in at around 57 g. To give you a reference to scale, here the device is kept beside an AA battery.

The interface of the MI-W2 has features like making calls, remotely changing songs in your default music player, remotely trigger a camera. As far as notifications are concerned, the feature to have notifications from Facebook and Twitter is currently being worked on says the official website. The device sends notifications when you stroll away 7 metres from your phone. Also, you can find your phone from the device which plays a tone on your phone through the app.
