WhatsApp users can now order an Uber with just one click: Here’s how to

You can now use WhatsApp to book an Uber ride in the Delhi-National Capital Region. Yes, you heard it right. The messaging platform and the cab service provider announced the new feature in Hindi and English. Commuters in the Delhi-NCR area can use it right away.

Users in the capital can use the ‘WhatsApp to Ride’ chatbot to order an Uber over WhatsApp (WA2R). A pilot test of the feature went well in Lucknow last year, according to a statement from both Uber and WhatsApp. The chatbot is run by the global company Infobip. 

The WhatsApp Business platform was used to make the chatbot. The bot can be accessed in more than one language. Uber says that the Lucknow Pilot showed that W2AR customers were younger than the average Uber App user, with more than half being under 25. 

How to book Uber Through WhatsApp

WhatsApp users in the Delhi-NCR area can start an Uber chat by sending a message to the taxi service's business account number, scanning a QR code, or clicking a link. Customers will have to tell us where they want to be picked up and dropped off, how much they want to pay upfront, and when they think the driver will arrive.

Here are the steps you need to take to book an Uber through WhatsApp:

Step 1: You should send direct text messages to +917292000002.

Step 3: Scan the QR code that appears to get to the chat window.

Uber has promised that riders will have the same safety features and insurance protections as those who book rides through the Uber app. When they make a reservation, they will also get information about the driver and their license plate. They will be able to get in touch with the driver through a masked number and keep track of where they are as they make their way to the pickup spot.

Through WhatsApp, the rider will be told about safety precautions, such as how to reach Uber in an emergency. After selecting "emergency," the customer service team of the taxi service will call the customer. Also, Uber users will have access to the company's safety line number for 30 minutes after the trip ends. This video shows how the WA2R process works when you order an Uber ride.

"However, when rides are booked through WhatsApp, nothing will change for drivers on Uber's platform. Both new and old Uber users who signed up with just a phone number can use the service," says an Uber statement.
